As a Smith Mountain Lake family photographer that has lived here my entire life I am no stranger to the beautiful gem of Smith Mountain Lake. Being voted best photographer of Smith Mountain Lake in 2025 in the Laker Weekly I have had the pleasure of photographing families that are not only local to the area, but also families that have come from all over Virginia to vacation here at Smith Mountain lake Virginia. The Manganora Family | Smith Mountain Lake

The Manganora family will forever hold a special place in my heart! Some people when you first meet them, you feel like you have known them forever, and it just feels natural and easy. Well this family was just that! The Manganora family reached out to me to schedule a family lake photography session back in the winter as they always come to Smith Mountain Lake every year to vacation. It had been years since they had updated family portraits with their entire family. Since then, their family has grown and they felt what better location to capture their family portraits than their favorite vacation place here at the lake. 

The Manganora Family had many questions leading up to their photography session. Such as; when they should schedule their session, the best colors to wear for the lake, and the best spots for photos at Smith Mountain Lake. I gently guided them from beginning to end of outfit coordination, recommending that blue is always a great color for lake portraits. I then recommended the best spot for family lake portraits which is here at Smith Mountain Lake state park. When we all arrived, we walked the grounds of the Smith Mountain Lake State Park for a few minutes and just chatted a bit about their stay here. As we all talked and walked around for a few minutes this “broke the ice” with their youngest son and he quickly started warming up to me and gave me lots of smiles and laughs during our photo session together! The Manganora’s personalities shined all throughout their photography session and you could tell they genuinely were having such a great time with their photos.
